What is gsm?
GSM means grams per square metre — how heavy (and usually how thick) the sheet feels. Higher gsm generally feels sturdier.
- 90–130gsm — light flyers and inserts
- 150gsm — strong everyday flyer weight
- 250–300gsm — postcards and premium promos
- 350gsm+ — business cards and heavy card
Coated vs uncoated
- Coated (gloss/silk) — smoother, colours look vivid, less absorbent.
- Uncoated — natural feel, easier to write on, softer colour look.
More detail: coated vs uncoated paper.
How to choose
Match stock to the job: letterbox drops favour lighter flyers; leave-behind sales sheets may warrant heavier board; menu cards that get handled often may need laminate. Ask us if you’re unsure — we’ll recommend without inventing a one-size answer.
